In 2006, I was part of a team exploring the foraging and habitat ecology of wintering Piping plovers, Charadrius melodus, at Oregon Inlet, NC. This work was funded by theU.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Engineer Research and Development Center:
There is little information published about this threatened species’ winter ecology on the Atlantic Coast . The results from this study have been accepted in Waterbirds and will be published in 2008.
